UTM President Dalitso Kabambe, who finished third in the just-ended polls, has congratulated DPP’s Peter Mutharika, declaring him the rightful winner of the election.
Kabambe urged Mutharika to establish an inclusive government, prioritise national healing, and focus on rebuilding Malawi’s economy.

The UTM leader, who took over the party following the tragic death of then Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima, further called on Mutharika to urgently investigate the June 10, 2024, plane crash.
“I also call for a thorough and independent inquiry into the tragic death of the late Right Honourable Dr Saulos Chilima, whose passing remains a matter of deep national concern,” pleaded Kabambe.
He continued, “Addressing this with transparency and urgency will help bring closure to the nation and reaffirm our collective commitment to justice and accountability.”
Kabambe emphasised that the will of Malawians must be respected, adding that a peaceful transfer of power will stand as a testament to the maturity of the country’s democracy and the resilience of Malawi.
