Lets wait for due process- Chilima

Vice President Saulos Chilima has said he will wait for the due process of the law and respond in court and not through media on his six counts he is facing, for allegedly receiving US$280 000 from British arms dealer Zuneth Sattar.
Chilima responding to a MIJ reporter Cathy Maulidi said he was in court to respond to the charges and could not use the media to respond.
The Vice President has been consistent in his response to the allegations while former cabinet minister Kezzie Msukwa and former Inspector General of Police George Kainja are using legal technicalities to have the charges squashed as being illegal.
Chilima has suspended his public appearances, cancelling his initially confirmed travel to the north where he was supposed to attend the Gonapamuhanya celebrations of the Tumbukas at Bolero in Rumphi.
Despite Chilima’s alleged involvement, his supporters are questioning the timing of his arrest after a series of scandals broke including the naming of Secretary to the President and Cabinet Collen Zamba and Principal Secretary for Energy Alfonso Chikuni by former NOCMA acting CEO Helen Buluma as being behind deals to award fuel contracts to a Nigerian only identified as “Chief” facilitated by a lady Buluma identified in parliament as Eva Kamwangala.
Government has remained mum on the allegations and people connected to the MCP both in Sattars, NOCMA and another involving the K750 million fertiliser deal paid to a butchery
