Office of the President and Cabinet has shaken Principal Secretaries, and seasoned communications expert Baldwin Chiyamwaka has become Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Information and Digitisation.
Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Information Hetherwick Njati has been relocated to the Ministry of Finance as PS for Administration. At the same time, Director of Information Chikumbutsu Mtuumodzi has been promoted to Administration and Finance PS at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Mtuumodzi is a former Journalist who worked at various media houses including Times Group and as Press Secretary for the third Republican President Bingu wa Mutharika. He confirmed his promotion with a social media post.
The changes have also seen Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Ambassador Benard Sande being replaced by Malawi High Commissioner to Zimbabwe McLoyd Polepole, who has been spotted in various international forums representing the Ministry.
Sande was recalled from retirement and is thought to be on posting as Malawi’s Ambassador to Morrocco. He has served as Ambassador in Washington DC, USA under Bingu wa Mutharika and London, UK under President Joyce Banda.
The changes have seen Education PS Chikondano Mussa reunite with her former Minister of Education Agness NyaLonje at the Ministry of Labour. The new Secretary for Education is Dr. Mangani Katundu.
