President Lazarus Chakwera could release his cabinet as early as this Sunday, one senior Minister confirmed to be retained has said.The President promised to appoint a “cabinet to deliver” in October when he fired then Agriculture Minister Lobin Lowe, saying he wanted Malawians to be served better.He repeated his pledge on New Year’s day, which has led to speculations as who would be in the cabinet.A senior Minister has said the President had discussions with the potential ministers and the new ones that will be appointed.”There will be movements but most faces will be retained. So far he has met most of the old Ministers,” said the source.Those expected to be retained include Finance Minister Sosten Gwengwe, Sam Kawale at Agriculture, Youth Minister Richard Chimwendo Banda who is expected to move Ministries, Nancy Tembo at Foreign Affairs and Jacob Hara at Transport.The other safe Ministers include Trade Minister Mark Katsonga, Khumbize Kandodo at Health, Agness Nyalonje at Education and Micheal Usi at Tourism which might be merged with another Ministry.The source said Jean Sendeza, Albert Mbawala and Patricia Kaliati are likely to be retained alongside Ibrahim Matola though might be I’m different portifolios.Malawians are experiencing high cost of living, low forex shortage and chaos in implementation of Affordable Input Programme and collapse in disposable incomes.The Government does not have any economic recovery plan.
