Former Minister of Justice Ralph Kasambara is suspected to have died of a heart attack. The Police have compiled this report
LINGADZI SITUATION REPORT OF 07/06/2024 SUDDEN DEATH
Occurred on 07/06/2024 at around 1400 hours at area 47 sector 5 at Damron lodge. Mr. Charles Kasambala, D.OB. 29/02/1966, Vge. Chijere, T/A. Timbiri, D. Nkhatabay, Occ. Executive Director C/O Center for Legal Assistance reports the above incident that his younger brother Raphael Kasambala aged 56 years of the same particulars died suddenly in the room he booked.
Facts are that the reporter is the elder brother to the deceased and he stays in Lilongwe while the deceased was staying in Blantyre.
On 01/06/2024 the deceased came here in Lilongwe to attend family function. The following morning of 02/06/2024, he went to area 47 at Damron lodge and booked a room as he was the regular customer who after booking a room he could stay over two weeks.
The deceased booked room number 5 and he told the manageress Pemphero Phiri that the cleaners should always clean his room during afternoon hours since morning hours he stays busy with office work.
On 06/06/2024 at around 1800 hours the deceased went into his room and did not go out.
Today on 07/06/2024 at around 1400 hours the manager knocked into deceased room for cleaning purpose but found the door half open and there was no response of the knock. Upon peeping into the room she saw the deceased lying down besides the bed. She then informed her boss who further reported the matter to police. Police officers from Malawi police headquarters, central west region headquarters and Lingadzi police station accompanied by Dr. Andrew Mwale from Kamuzu central hospital went to the scene whereby different types of drugs were found in the room plus different types of beers. According to the reporter, the deceased had a heart problem and he was on medication. The scene had no any marks of violence as it was seen that the deceased moved from the bed and slept on the floor and he really slept on a pillow. It was also observed that the deceased was trying to have a first aid on his own as he was found with a wet towel on his chest.
Body has been taken to mortuary pending postmortem.
