Government replaced the first female Chief Commissioner for Prisons Grace Wandika Phiri silently in March.
A notice from the Malawi Prisons Service indicates that the new Commissioner General Masauko Ng’ombeyagwada Wiskot was appointed on 25th of March, 2023.
There was no public announcement despite the position being of strategic importance in the security systems.
The Prison Service has been redeployed to Office of the President and Cabinet as the Principal Secretary.
