Human Rights, Disability, and Service to Humanity
Chimwemwe Chijozi: A Human Rights lawyer who has taken some of the most difficult cases. She has remained one of the key defenders of human rights in Malawi.
Malawi Human Rights Commission: The institution has increased its visibility in the defense of human rights, and its investigations and reports have added value to the work of defending human rights for all Malawians.
Bishop Martin Mtumbuka: He has been eloquent in fighting against the labeling of the elderly as witches due to age and attacks on people with albinism. His voice is consistent and always timely for society.

Platform for Investigative Journalism (PIJ); Investigative stories for social, political, and public accountability that exposes the issues affecting Malawians at all levels including the most vulnerable in orphan care centres.
Joab Frank Chakhadza; has been a voice that tackles societal issues, including those that are deemed controversial in different sectors including witchcraft and other beliefs. Joab’s probing nature provides both information and education to wider Malawian audiences.
Zilipati program by Malawi Institute of Journalism Radio; a public interest programme that is working to make a difference and probe issues that affect Malawians.

Government and Public Services
Hon. Sam Kawale M.P, Minister of Agriculture; In less than a year, the Minister has held two key public services of land and agriculture. At the time public trust is very low as supported by AfroBarometre’s recent survey, the Minister has been open and tried to be accountable to the public in both of his portfolios. He exudes confidence and provides admirable leadership that restores trust in the scandal-weary public services.
Kamuzu Central Hospital; The hospital despite the huge shortage of resources, has continued to deliver a clean environment and good service to the users, who continue to note a huge difference from the past periods when it appeared almost run down.
Hon Grace Malera, The Ombudsman; She has continuously provided checks and balances to excesses in public administration. Her reports on Covid 19 provided a glimpse into how public officials shared the funds meant to save lives. Her reports on the CEO of MERA and NOCMA revealed the continued impunity in the recruitment of professional services.

National Service to Arts and Entertainment
Lucius Banda; He has for years been the poster of Malawi music transcending different generations. Lucius has made immense contributions by exposing, training, and allowing budding artists to share his stage. His Sand Festival exposes local talent to international artists.
Micheal Usi : He has over the years helped to build radio and stage theatre. He has trained hundreds of artists in drama and theatre.
Charles Shemu Joyah: For his efforts to revive the film industry in Malawi and bring the Malawi productions to global audience.
Mikozi : As a digital platform, Mikozi has been a trailblazer in supporting artists and exposing established and new talents.

Institution of the Year
The Anti-Corruption Bureau; The ACB has been one of the key institutions that has worked hard to safeguard the resources Malawians contribute as tax. The institution has lived to it’s billing as a governance institution.
The Ministry of Health- Covid-19 and Cholera fight; The Ministry continued its efforts to contain Covid 19 and now cholera. The public education and house-to-house approaches to delivering Covid 19 and cholera vaccines have seen increased uptake. The Ministry despite serious financial challenges that have affected the operations of several hospitals continues to deliver much-needed services to Malawians.
Platform for Investigative Journalism; -it has been a rare voice in exposing the abuse of public resources and the abuse of the most vulnerable. The PIJ has been able to write what most commercial and politically aligned media outlets cannot touch.
The Malawi National Assembly; Parliament has had a mixed period, but most of the business transacted áré tó the level of defending public interests. Parliament has managed tó bring and pass pensions bills amendment, held public inquiries on the most issues or urgent and received petitions from the public on issues affecting them.
Archdiocese of Lilongwe; In deciding to purchase a Bank, the Church displayed a rare outside-box thinking that could change the role it plays in the economy. The church has demonstrated to Malawians they can do or be more.
Malawian of the Year
Martha Chizuma ; For her courageous fight to protect public resources
Kondwani Kachamba Ngwira : For inspiring a nation to consider self-reliance to local production
Bishop Martin Mtumbuka : For standing up for the truth and Malawians.
