Police press on Kayuni case against Chizuma

…Justice Mdeza join the party to finish ACB Director one year late

The Malawi Police Service have defied President Lazarus Chakwera and are proceeding with the case to prosecute Anti Corruption  Bureau Director General Martha Chizuma based on complaint by fired Director of Public Prosecutions Steven Kayuni.

Joining the party one year late is Justice Simeon Mdeza whose name has been added as having had his authority lowered by the audio leaked by Anderson Mwakiyelu, who nobody has complained after he clandestinely recorded and leaked the private conversations.

It is clear the target is to have Chizuma removed and save the corrupt, a mission that has been going on since the case of Zuneth Sattar started in 2021.

The criminal case number 236 indicates that Chizuma will be charged with two counts of making a speech calculated to lower the authority of a person before whom a judicial proceeding is being “had”, contrary to the penal codes section 113 (d) and making a speech capable of prejudicing a person against a party to judicial proceedings contrary to the same section.

A legal mind said the two charges will be difficult to prove as Chizuma did not “make a speech” as she was recorded clandestinely and that Mdeza had already handled the case by the time the audio came out.

The ACB Director General is said to be in Blantyre in relation to another case and is unlikely to appear before court on Wednesday.
