UNIMA student suicides hit 3

A second year student at  Chancellor College of the University of Malawi (UNIMA) has committed suicide making him a third student in less than 40 days.

The student who cannot be identified for legal reasons, is an artist and had been speaking about death before April saying it was “written.”

He posted a WhatsApp status with a coffin.

His fellow students said he was discovered dead on Friday morning at Chikanda area.

UNIMA Students’ Representative Council (SRC) President, Humble Bondo, has  expresed concern over the rising suicide cases.

“Three cases how?” He asks.

The three cases  have been male students and many are said to be struggling with mental health to fit in University life or relationships.

It is yet to be known if the students are receiving any counselling after such cases.
