The High Court of Malawi on Monday dismissed the application by the former Inspector General of Police George kainja, challenging his arrest by the Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) in relation to the bribery allegations concerning UK businessman Zuneth Sattar.
Kainja is among the 11 high profile cases that are currently in court being pursued by the ACB. The ACB says it is investigating all the 83 persons mentioned in its report to President Lazarus Chakwera.
Justice Redson Kapindu ruled that the six grounds raised by Kainja could be presented during actual trial and that the ACB discharged its mandate correctly when arresting him.
Lawyers for ACB and Kainja confirmed the ruling.
Kapindu made a similar ruling in the case against former Lands Minister Kezzie Msukwa and Sattars right hand man Ashok but the matter was appealed and the Supreme Court which holds the record for delaying cases, is holding it up.
