Some 10 libidious students might be heading for a long stay as state guests at a prison after they gang raped and robbed a woman in Balaka.
Police in Balaka district confirmed keeping in custody ten students from Balaka Islamic Boys Secondary School for allegedly raping and robbing a 27-year-old woman.
Confirming the incident, Balaka Police deputy spokesperson Mphatso Munthali said the students descended on the woman when she was passing by the schools’ premises from market at around 5 o’clock in the evening.
He said during the incident which occurred on May 13, 2023, the boys also robbed the woman of K7, 500.
Munthali said when the matter was reported to police, they conducted an identification parade which led to the arrest of the suspects.
“The matter was reported to Balaka Police Station where an identification parade was conducted which led to the arrest of ten students after the victim identified them,” he said.
He said the suspects will appear before court soon to answer charges of rape and robbery.
