Cyclone death toll climbs to 326

..201 still missing, un accounted for

..501 772 people affected

Cyclone Freddy disaster has so far claimed 326 lives but the number is expected to rise as 201 persons are still missing.

A data analysis released by Dr Richard Munthali shows that 501 772 people. 183 158 people from 40 702 house holds have been displaced.

The grim data shows that 796 people have reported injuries related to the marauding waters and winds that have destroyed most places in the Southern Region of Malawi.

Chikwawa districts which lays in flood prone zone has the highest number of displaced households at 8 837 followed by Mulanje with 8 303.

Nsanje is close to the two with 8 250 while 4709 households being affected with Zomba having 2960 households.

Blantyre which has reported most deaths has 2862 displaced people while Phalombe has 2280 households displaced.

With 1018 households affected Thyolo is on top of Chiradzulu with 785 and Mangochi with 656.

Relief is yet to reach some areas in Mulanje, Zomba and Nsanje districts.
