The newly appointed Deputy Director for the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Hilary Chilomba was on Monday confirmed to the post by the Public Appointments Committee of Parliament.
Chilombas appointment stirred a litany of allegations on social media and our Investigator Magazine has found that he has had a colourful and controversial legal career in institutions he has worked.
Chilomba is returning to the ACB after he left the organisation almost a year ago.
From ACB, Chilomba made it to the Malawi Human Rights Commission before moving to the Malawi Copyright Society.
MCP sources indicate that he is a loyalist and his appointment would mean President Chakwera is seeking to control the ACB after failing to tame the incumbent Director Martha Chizuma.
