DPP fires Mchacha

The political cyclone in the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) continues as the pro-Peter Mutharika camp has announced the sacking of Regional Governor for South Charles Mchacha.

Mchacha has said he is yet to get a letter to the effect. He was once seen to be close to President Peter Mutharika.

His firing comes days after he disbanded a meeting called in the Southern Region to oppose endorsement of Mutharika to run again.

Mchacha however, switched sides and he was pictured this week wearing pro-Mutharikas attire.

Zodiak Radio quoted Organising secretary for the party Chimwemwe Chipungu as having confirmed the sacking of Mchacha.

“Its just a strategy as we are approaching the elections he has since been replaced by Thompson Kamangira.

On Thursday a group of Parliamentarians led by Mwanza Central MP Nicholas Dausi challenged Mutharika to end the chaos by declaring his position.

The party is now split between those who want Mutharika to run again and those opposed to his return.

Meanwhile one of the leading Presidential aspirants Dalitso Kabambe has dissociated himself from a poster that was circulating alleging he was to address the a press conference with Mchacha and Administrative Secretary Francis Mphepo.
