Former Homeland Security Minister Nicholas Dausi on Tuesday re-surfaced in Parliament telling the incumbent Minister Ken Zikhale Ng’oma not to call all imbibers “drunkards”
Zikhale Ng’oma was answering questions from parliamentarians on Road Traffic Police conduct on the roads when he had advice to morltorists.
“I would advise those that are going to drink to have someone sober so that when they are drunkered they should not be stopped by Police. Otherwise Police will continue to arrest anyone drunk to keep our roads safe,” said Zikhale Ng’oma.
Dausi, renowned for his bombastic selection of the Kings language, rose on a point of order to challenge his predecessor.
“Not all who drink are drunkards. People sometimes just drink to entertain themselves. The Minister is wrong to call everyone a drunkard,” said Dausi amid cheers from opposition benches and “waledzela” (you are drunk) from Government benches.
Deputy Speaker Madalitso Kazombo agreed with the Mwanza Central legislator.
Later Zikhale Ng’oma said outside parliament he never called anyone a drunk. He said he said when people drink and get drunk they should not touch vehicles.
