Revoke 115 illegal citizenships-CDEDI

..cancel all Uladi Mussa’s permitsĀ

The arrest and conviction of Former Homeland Security Minister Uladi Mussa should have led to cancellation all citizenships  issued by him, a Civil rights group has suggested.

The Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) has given Minister of Homeland Security  seven days to c revoke statuses of 115 foreign nationals, mostly from Rwanda and Burundi which were allegedly  naturalised  between 2012 and 2014.

CDEDI Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa said its analysis of the files related to the matter show there is something wrong with the process.

“Some files has one same number while others are above 18 are listed as dependents,” Namiwa said in a letter to Homeland Security Minister Ken Zikhale Ng’oma.

Namiwa said this poses security risks to Malawi.

He says Uladi Mussas jailing should have moved Government to cancel all documents he had issued that were in contention to have been issued irregularly.

Homeland Security Minister Ken Zikhale Ng’oma has been asked for a comment and will update once we recieve it.
