….fuel runs dry again
Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) has become a Labour Day joke after it blamed the holiday for drying fuel pumps.
Labour day, unlike Eid Holiday is a fixed calender holiday that the desperate MERA which has been giving one excuse after another jumped on it as the one holding fuel tankers from arriving at pump stations.
Under Tonse Alliance administration fuel shortages have become a frequent occurrence just like constant shortages of other essentials.
MERA which at first said the situation would normalise by weekend, suddenly blamed the holiday as having contributed to the delays
Our sources indicate suppliers have withheld NOCMAs importation due to non payment. Private companies who import half of the required litres are the only ones importing.
Henry Kachaje, who is MERAs CEO by a court injunction could not be reached for a comment.
