Kamuzu dumps MCPs Tonse

…corruption, colossal failureĀ

President Lazarus Chakwera leadership has become very unattractive that even smaller parties are now dumping it.

The first to show his disgust with the levels of corruption is Kamuzu Chibambo, named after long time MCP President Kamuzu Banda. He has left the MCP led Tonse Alliance with his Peoples Transformation Party (Petra)

He said corruption in Tonse has made it smelly and it can’t implement any of the campaign promises.

Kamuzu Chibambo said the harrassment and persecution of Anti Corruption Bureau Director General Martha Chizuma shows that the alliance is now backing corruption.

He also cited rising cost of food and looming food shortages which indicate faliures by the Chakwera led Tonse Alliance. He cited the theft of K750 million  for procuremen of fertiliser  under the Affordable Input Program (AIP).

“The truth of the matter is that all the above failures, wrongs and bad decisions amid several others are not only contrary to what we campaigned for in the 2020 Presidential Elections,” charged Kamuzu in a statement.

He said it was frustrating that Malawi was degenerating into lawlessness and lacking rule of law as the corrupt seem powerful.

“Petra’s leadership is left with no option but to withdraw with immediate effect its membership from the Tonse Alliance, as it hereby does,” Kamuzu concludes.

The Tonse Alliance has now a MCP, UTM, PP, Aford, Mafunde, Freedom Party, Umodzi and Citizen Initiave of fired Unity Minister Timothy Mtambo.
