Moyenda Mutharika-Knapp, second-born daughter of Malawi’s fifth President Peter Mutharika has been named among the top 100 Black Lawyers in the United States of America.
The Chicago-based Business and Employment lawyer was recognised by the National Black Lawyers, an invitation-only professional development and networking association comprised of the top African American attorneys from across the USA.
“This exclusive organization selects the most successful and influential lawyers with reputations for providing excellent legal representation in their respective practice areas. In sum, we are an African-American legal brain trust,” reads the Association’s website.
Moyenda is one of the three Professor Peter Mutharika’s children with his first wife Christophine who passed away in 1990. The other two Monique and Mahopera are also established lawyers.
Moyenda according to the available online information received her legal license in 1998. She is also an adjunct professor of law at Northwestern University.
The National Black Lawyers was created to celebrate legal excellence by promoting attorneys as subject-matter experts, developing a strong national network of top African-American attorneys, and facilitating the exchange of timely information to enable members to maintain their status as leaders.
